EDGEWATER — Edgewater's new Mariano's grocery store, replacing a former Dominick's, will open on April 22 at Foster Avenue and Sheridan Road, the company confirmed.

Residents have been excited to welcome the new store to the neighborhood.

"We’re pleased to announce that Mariano's Edgewater is opening April 22 at 6am!" the company tweeted Thursday.

A company spokeswoman confirmed the opening date and time Thursday night.

Ald. Harry Osterman (48th) encouraged constituents in an email to welcome the grocer to the neighborhood at 5201 N. Sheridan Road.

Mariano's held two job fairs in recent months. As of early April, the grocer had about 100 positions to fill.

Business officials had said the new Mariano's would be a good addition to the neighborhood, attracting other established businesses to Edgewater.
