LINCOLN PARK — Less than a year after opening on Diversey near the lake, Tommy Knuckles sports bar is set to close.

It will be a fast turnaround at the location, 433 W. Diversey Parkway, as a new beer-and-pizza restaurant called Compass Bar is set to open in February.

Tommy Knuckles had opened in the former Forno Diablo in May.

The soon-to-open Compass Bar will feature 180 bottled beers, representing 180 degrees on a compass, according to owners Ryan See and Patrick Wrona.

Compass Bar will specialize in domestic craft beers and wood-fired pizzas.

The bar will have 20 tap handles with a rotating selection of the best seasonal beers and new breweries, according to the owners.

The restaurant will be headed by Chef Clint Walt, who previously served as executive sous chef at Frasca Pizzeria and Wine Bar and Tapa La Luna.

A few examples off the pizza menu include four-cheese, caramelized fennel and onion, BBQ braised park shoulder, and prosciutto with garlic confit, mozzarella and truffled arugula.

"Our goal was to create a neighborhood bar with an extensive beer selection and great food," the owners said in a statement Thursday.
