BUCKTOWN — A shop specializing in gourmet herbs and spices closed its doors permanently Tuesday, but the owners of Pinch Spice Market will continue to sell their goods online and offer bike deliveries.

Pinch Spice Market opened in March 2012 at 1913 N. Milwaukee Ave. and closed Tuesday, according to a sign in its window that hangs next to a "For Rent" sign.

"We will miss our beautiful shop but look forward to continuing to serve your spice needs along with the freedom of being outside and bike mobile and more sustainable in 2014!" wrote owners Mike Mueller and Thomas McGee, who went by the nickname of Shoebocks, on their Facebook Page.

In the past four years, the storefront, just south of the Milwaukee and Western intersection near the CTA Blue Line Western "L" station, was also home to Avocado Eatery, which opened in March 2011 and before that, a tea shop called Tea Essence.

"We are thankful for the last two years of learning this business and meeting all of you to share the great taste of our highest quality spice blends and organic herbs and spices," they wrote.

Matanky Realty is currently trying to find a new tenant for the 1,000 square foot storefront, which rents for $18 per square foot, according to a listing on its website.
