PILSEN — Even the tamales are beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

Pilsen’s Dia De Los Tamales has created a holiday tamale, made with peppermint and chocolate masas (braided together to look like a candy cane) and topped with homemade chocolate sauce, whipped cream and peppermint candy pieces.

“It’s really good and it looks super cute,” said co-owner Jeni Wahl.

The tamale joint’s Atomic Pork Tamale was recently listed as one of Newcity’s Top Five Farmers Market Eats.

Snag the pork tamale, or the holiday one, for $3 at Dia De Los Tamales, 939 W. 18th St. But act soon on the holiday one – it, like Christmas, only comes once a year.
