NEAR WEST SIDE — Lincoln Square is about to get a little more Flirty.
Started by owner Tiffany Kurtz, Flirty Cupcakes food truck was one of the first in the city. Kurtz, who ditched her corporate marketing job to do desserts full time, has since opened Dessert Garage, a stationary complement to Flirty Cupcakes at 1030 W. Taylor St.
Kurtz said she plans to open her new, slightly bigger location, at 4631 N. Lincoln Ave. in the Lincoln Square neighborhood by the end of January.
The Flirty Cupcakes food truck was also recently just nominated for Mobile Cuisine's Best Dessert Food Truck of 2013.
The national poll pits Flirty against trucks like New York's Big Gay Ice Cream, Boston's Kickass Cupcakes, and Kansas City's 3 Girls Cupcakes.
"Trucks have a hard time in Chicago, so to be able to survive three years is really amazing. We're really excited," Kurtz said.
