Two Dead, 12 Injured in Weekend Violence

CHICAGO — A 28-year-old man was injured in a shooting in the University Village/ Little Italy neighborhood Monday morning.

Around 1 a.m. Monday, the man was sitting in the back seat of a car in an alley in the 1200 block of West Taylor Street when a blue minivan approached and fired shots. The man was hit multiples times in his right shoulder and taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in stable condition, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.

No one is in custody for the shooting, Alfaro said.

Sunday afternoon, a 22-year-old man was shot and killed in Englewood. Overnight Saturday, a 26-year-old was killed and 10 people were injured in shootings across the city.

Saturday morning, a teenager was also shot while waiting at a red light.
