LAKEVIEW — Reminder to all fans of Scooter's creamy frozen custard: Friday is your last day to stock up before the shop closes for the winter.

Scooter's Frozen Custard, 1658 W. Belmont Ave., will start their yearly winter shutdown at the end of this week after they sell out — which they always do, usually around 7 p.m.

The 11-year-old mom-and-pop frozen custard shop owned by Mardi and Denny Moore will not reopen until Friday, March 7.

To stock up until spring, Scooter's sells frozen custard pints and quarts, which will keep for three months in the freezer if left unopened. (The Moores suggest not opening them until you're ready to eat it all for the best custard experience.)

The last week's special custard flavors include peppermint candy, eggnog and sea salt caramel.

And to the people looking to wait in line: They open at 2 p.m. Friday.
