KENWOOD — David Narain is the new interim principal of King College Prep.
Narain was appointed Nov. 12 to take over the selective-enrollment high school until a new principal is selected.
The former assistant principal of Kenwood Academy takes over for King Assistant Principal Walter Ornelas, who stepped in after Shontae Higginbottom resigned.
Higginbottom resigned in late October after a rocky tenure at the school.
Teachers at King seemed pleased with the appointment of Narain, who was brought in earlier this year to work with Higginbottom after the students staged a sit-in in protest of her policies and treatment of teachers and staff.
Narain declined to comment on his appointment. He is expected to be introduced to parents at Wednesday’s Local School Council meeting.
