NEAR WEST SIDE — Ryan Allen wasn't a Chicago Bull for long, but that didn't stop teammates, including best friend Derrick Rose, from turning out for a swanky shindig Sunday celebrating the Chicago native's 25th birthday.

Ryan's sister Ebony Allen worked with wedding planner Regina D. Brooks to design the event at Loft on Lake, at 1366 W. Lake St. It was billed as "a royal birthday for a king," according to Natalie Kusman, the venue manager and photographer.

The event included "close friends and family" and featured a signature drink called "King Ryan's Passion," Kusman said.

Guests danced all night at the Near West Side event space near the United Center.

The VIP list included Derrick "P.J." Rose, Jr., the point guard's son, who will celebrate his first birthday on Oct. 9.

Tony Snell, the Bulls first-round draft pick, was also there.

The Bulls waived Allen last October, before the season started, after he spent less than a month on the team roster. Allen attended Whitney Young Magnet and Thornton Fractional high schools. His brother, Tony Allen, plays for the Memphis Grizzlies.
