LAKEVIEW — Look forward to sweets, meats and cheese at the launch of Lakeview’s latest farmers market, the Low Line Market.
The new market opens June 6, and the list of products and vendors includes truffles from Logan Square’s Katherine Anne Confections, ribs and steak from C&D Family Farms in Indiana and cheeses from Nordic Creamery in Wisconsin.
The Thursday afternoon markets beneath the Southport Brown Line "L" stop will run through Oct. 17. Hours will be from 4-8 p.m. until Sept. 5. Hours switch from 4-7 p.m. from Sept. 12 through Oct. 17.
The name “Low Line” is a twist on New York City’s “High Line,” a park built on a historic elevated train rail. Run by the Lakeview Chamber of Commerce, the local special service tax area No. 27 and a newly formed group called Friends of Lakeview, the market seeks to bring local producers to the neighborhood.
