CHICAGO — A pit bull attacked a man and then a teenager on his way to school before it was shot by a Chicago Police sergeant in Englewood Wednesday morning, cops said.
The dog first went after a man and bit both his legs about 7:50 a.m., said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman, though he didn't know where that attack took place.
Then, a sergeant saw the dog attacking 16-year-old boy who was on his way to school in the 5900 block of South Stewart Avenue about 8:20 a.m., Estrada said, so he shot the dog and killed it.
The boy suffered wounds on his lower right leg and foot, and he was taken to St. Bernard Hospital for treatment, Estrada said. The man who was attacked earlier was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center. The conditions of the victims were not available Wednesday afternoon.
It was also unclear whether the pit bull belonged to an owner or was a stray.
