CHICAGO — The search for the next "Check, Please!" host is down to five people.
There's Senam Amegashie, a vivacious writer and mom, and perky pastry chef Sarah Levy.
There's Catherine DeOrio, an attorney-turned-food-consultant with a winning smile, and restaurateur Ina Pinkney, nicknamed the "Breakfast Queen" and with a regal sassiness to boot.
Last but not least, the lone guy with the fabulous hair, Donny de Castro, owner of Tavern at the Park.
Next up: a "Check, Please!" special that will take viewers behind the scenes of the search process, which began early this year after Alpana Singh announced she was stepping down as host of the immensely popular restaurant review show. That episode will air at 8 p.m. May 17 on WTTW-Ch. 11.
The new host will be announced on May 29.
