ANDERSONVILLE — A "well-known restaurateur" will be taking over the vacant Kingfisher Restaurant space in Andersonville, according to the office of Ald. Harry Osterman (48th).

Osterman's chief of staff, Dan Luna, declined to name the new tenant or describe the cuisine the new restaurant would offer, but he said a lease had been signed this week and promised that the community "will be very happy with the new tenant."

Residents can expect an official announcement in the next two weeks, Luna said.

Laryssa Moros with Jos. Cacciatore & Co. Real Estate said earlier in April that the people taking over the 3,700 square-foot property are "definitely a group that knows what they're doing."

Commerce leaders in Andersonville said they have been left in the dark about the new addition to the neighborhood.

Andersonville Development Corp. managing director Colleen O'Toole said, "We're not privy to the information, its been coordinated by the leasing agency and the alderman's office."

"We're waiting along with everyone else to find out who is going in there," O'Toole said.
