CHICAGO — CTA “L” lines were "essentially" running on time again by 7:20 p.m. Friday after major delays frustrated travelers in the Loop during the busy Friday evening rush hour, a CTA spokesman said.
The Brown, Green, Orange, Purple and Pink Lines were affected by the delays, which started at 4:47 p.m. Slight delays were expected to persist until about 8 p.m.
The Purple Line Express was suspended for the evening, and the CTA recommended passengers travel via the Red Line and transfer to the Purple Line local, according to the CTA Twitter account.
Pink Line trains were switched to the outer tracks, meaning passengers will need to catch the train in the opposite side of the tracks from normal. The trains should be back to normal by Saturday afternoon, officials said.
