Gowns and other women's clothing by influential designer Sophie Gimbel will be on display at Parsons The New School for Design through Tuesday, Feb. 12.

Starting in the 1930s, Gimbel dressed Marlene Dietrich and Hedy Lemar. She is credited with adding elegance to mid-century American style.

The show of 18 garments from the Parsons Fashion Archive is free. The gallery is open daily from noon to 6 p.m. and open Thursday evening until 8 p.m.
