Masters of Social Gastronomy is a free monthly lecture series hosted by the Brooklyn Brainery, located at 515 Court Street, discussing the history and science of food.

Which came first, chocolate or vanilla? The ice cream sandwich or the ice cream cone? These questions and more will be answered at the next installment of the series, featuring food blogger Sarah Lohman.

Lohman, who writes a cooking blog called Four Pounds Flour, will spill the beans about favorite ice cream treats and share the quirky flavors that have come up through history.

She will also reveal the science behind making the perfect batch of ice cream at home and, at the storytime halftime show, Lohman will do a demonstration of how easy it is to make ice cream of your own.

As always, this lecture series will take place at Public Assembly, located at 70 North 6th Street in Williamsburg. Doors open at 7 p.m. Sample and drink specials will be offered all night.
