The annual St. Patrick's Day Parade returns to Manhattan this weekend.

The parade will take place on Saturday, March 16 this year, not on March 17. Parade tradition dictates that in years when St. Patrick's Day falls on a Sunday, the parade is scheduled for the Saturday before so as not to interfere with religious observances.

The parade will start on 44th Street at 11 a.m., march up Fifth Avenue past St. Patrick's Cathedral at 50th Street and finish at 79th Street at about 4:30 to 5 p.m.

The biggest crowds are likely to gather below 59th Street. Spectators can also watch the parade north of 66th Street.
