QUEENS — Indie film lovers rejoice!

Inaugurated last year, the Kew Gardens Festival of Cinema will return to the neighborhood next summer, with dozens of feature films, documentaries and shorts to be screened during the 10-day event, organizers said.

Filmmakers can now submit their projects of all lengths and genres, including horror, comedy, animation and experimental.

“Year two promises the same amazing experience for everyone who attends, but will be even bigger and better," festival founder and executive director Jayson Simba said.

The event — which is held primarily at the historic Kew Gardens Cinemas at 8105 Lefferts Blvd., as well as at nearby Maple Grove Cemetery and the Queens Museum — received 400 submissions from around the world last year.

More than 150 of the films were screened during the festival, which includes movie trivia nights, after parties and indie filmmakers panels.

“Because the festival takes place in a small town, we offer filmmakers a more intimate experience, allowing them to network with their audience and peers,” Simba added.

Like last year, the Queens Museum will also be presenting free programming during the event along with an outdoor screening in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, the organizers said.

The festival, which will run from Aug. 3 to 12, 2018, has different submission deadlines, with the final one on April 18, the organizers said. For more details, go here
