NEW YORK CITY — Dramatic footage shows NYPD officers swooping in to rescue a man on Bear Mountain who suffered a "cardiac emergency" at the popular hiking destination, officials said.

The Westchester County Fire Dispatch called the NYPD’s Aviation Unit for help rescuing the 59-year-old hiker on Bear Mountain Sunday around 2:35 p.m., police said.

When the helicopter arrived, officers spotted the man and lowered a tactical medic down to him. They then put him on a backboard and airlifted him to safety, the NYPD said.

The victim was taken to Westchester County Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Officials said the hiker, whose name wasn't immediately released, had suffered a "cardiac emergency," but didn't provide further details.
