THE BRONX — A pair of NYPD officers chasing a machete-wielding teen clipped him with their police van Monday night, authorities said.

The 17-year-old male had the blade in his hand on Grand Concourse near East Kingsbridge Road when  NYPD officers coming back from a prisoner transport spotted him just before 11 p.m., police said.

The van was traveling north, but the teen began running south on the concrete island dividing the concourse, the NYPD said.

Police made a U-turn to follow the teen, but he stumbled into the street, they said. The driver hit the brakes, but the van clipped him before the officer could fully stop, according to police.

The teen was treated for a hip injury at St. Barnabas Hospital where he's listed in stable condition, the NYPD said Tuesday.

Police said the wheels of the van never hit him.

The teen, who lives just a few blocks from the scene, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and disorderly conduct and was given a desk appearance ticket, police said.
