EAST HARLEM — A bicyclist was hospitalized Thursday morning after he was struck by a Uber driver on East 106th Street, police said.
The collision, which occurred between Second and Third avenues around 11:35 a.m., may have left the cyclist with a broken leg, police and witnesses said.
He was taken to Cornell Hospital for treatment.
The driver's black Toyota had a shattered windshield after the crash, which occurred when the cyclist pedaled through a red light, the driver explained.
“They crossed the red light and rode into me,” said the shaken driver, who declined to provide his name.
Police did not have information about which way the car and bike were traveling or who was at fault, but the driver was not immediately charged, the NYPD said.
