PARK SLOPE — Police arrested a couple for attempting to snatch a teenager off the streets of Park Slope they targeted because she was wearing a pretty dress , according to court documents and the NYPD.
Raymond Ortiz, 60, of Boerum Hill and Delgria Lynch, 33, of Gravesend tried to drag a 15-year-old girl into an SUV as she was walking between 19th Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues on Sept. 22 at 2:40 p.m., police said.
Lynch admitted to police she had been drinking and driving around in a gray BMW SUV with her boyfriend, Ortiz, when they spotted the teenager in a "pretty dress" and decided to pull over, court records show.
The woman struck up a conversation with the young girl telling her she "loved" her dress and asked her to turn around so she could see the back while Ortiz grabbed the bottom of the girl's dress and lifted it up to "feel the fabric," according to court documents.
Otirz then grabbed the 15-year-old's arm and tried to drag her toward the rear of the SUV as Lynch told the girl to "come with us we will give you a ride home," court documents show.
But the girl was able to break away from the couple and fled down the block.
Both were arrested Sept. 28 and charged with attempted kidnapping, harassment, acting in a manner injurious to a child police and attempted unlawful imprisonment, court records show.
Ortiz is due in court Thursday. A court date has not been set yet for Lynch.
