KINGSBRIDGE HEIGHTS — A 19-year-old Bloods gang member killed a Bronx dad in front of his horrified son in a double shooting Tuesday, police said.

Zachary Brown gunned down Pedro Sanchez Almonte, 39, outside his Strong Street apartment building, near University Avenue, about 5 p.m., NYPD officials said.

A bullet also grazed the head of another man, 25, who was treated at Montefiore Hospital, police said.

Brown fled the scene and hadn't been arrested as of Thursday, police said.

Brown was previously arrested in July for criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said. The circumstances of that arrest weren't immediately clear.

Police initially said a second man with Brown was at the scene on a bike, but said Thursday the gang member acted alone.

"[Almonte's] son was crying, saying 'Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!' He was lying on the ground, facing up in the middle of the street. [His son] was going crazy, crying right by his dad," said witness Bolivia Aguasivas, 21.

A video provided by neighbors appeared to show Almonte lying on the pavement near a white minivan with its door open.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a "prior incident" but didn't provide further details.
