WEST VILLAGE — A new Shake Shack with a “state-of-the-art” test kitchen is opening on Varick Street.

The popular burger chain, which recently opened an outpost in Morningside Heights, plans to open its flagship restaurant at 225 Varick St., between West Houston and Clarkson streets, in 2018, the company said.

It will also be moving its “home office” from Union Square to the new address, which includes 27,000 square feet of space, including the test kitchen allowing the chain to expand its menu.

“We are thrilled to bring Shake Shack to the West Village and create a unique community gathering place for the neighborhood,” Shake Shack’s vice president of development Andrew McCaughan said in a statement.
