SOHO — A tree fell on a man on Crosby Street Tuesday afternoon, sending him to the hospital, witnesses and fire officials said.

The man was north of Broome Street a little after 12 p.m. when the tree crashed onto the sidewalk, officials and witnesses told DNAinfo New York.

Vitaly Ponomarev, 31, was sitting nearby waiting for a friend when he heard the tree creaking and turned his head to watch it fall on a man’s head, knocking him to the ground.

“Turning my head, I see the tree already going on him,” he said. “He didn’t see it so basically it hit him on his back…it just pushed him down.”

Ponomarev said the man, who had gray hair and wore a black T-shirt, appeared dazed as he lay under the branches.
