NYPD Employee Puts Out Cigar on Neighbor's Face During Argument, Police Say

STATEN ISLAND — A civilian employee of the NYPD put out a lit cigar on his neighbor's face and chest after the pair got into a fight Monday night, police said.

Angel Benitez, 53, got into an argument with the victim in front of his Staten Island home on Monday at about 6:53 p.m. when he stubbed the cigar out on the victim, a spokesman for the NYPD said, without providing a specific location.

Benitez, who works as an NYPD motor vehicle operator for the department's Fleet Services division, was arrested and charged with assault.

An NYPD spokesman could not provide further details on what sparked the argument.
