CIVIC CENTER — An FBI agent was injured when a flash bang grenade accidentally exploded at the Federal Plaza field office Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

"Today, an FBI Special Agent sustained non-life threatening injuries following the accidental discharge of a diversion device in the 26 Federal Plaza garage," bureau spokeswoman Kelly Langmesser said.

She refused to provide more information about the incident, but said there was no danger to the public.

The stun grenade detonated about 1:20 p.m. , according to NYPD and FDNY officials.

The agent, whose identity wasn't immediately released, was treated at Bellevue Hospital, where he's listed in stable condition, police said.
