NEW YORK CITY — A summer storm is moving its way across the five boroughs, bringing thunder, lightning and heavy rain, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn, with flash flooding now expected until 10:30 a.m.
Some neighborhoods — including Jamaica, Flatbush, Flushing, Jackson Heights, Forest Hills, Bay Ridge, the Lower East Side and the two city airports — could experience flooding, they warned.
Low lying streets and drainage areas, along with some streets and highways, could see some flooding.
The storm is expected to taper off later this morning, and then the sun returns for a bit with a high of 86, according to the NWS. But showers and thunderstorms will return Saturday before 10 a.m., with some storms producing heavy rains.
Sunday's weather is expected to brighten, with a high near 80 degrees and mostly sunny skies.
