MOTT HAVEN — A man fought back after a knife-wielding mugger attacked him inside an elevator and robbed him of his wallet and cellphone, police said.
Surveillance video released by the NYPD shows the attacker battling with the victim inside the lift at 383 E. 141 St. shortly before 5 a.m. on June 30.
As the two tussled, they ended up on the elevator floor, with the assailant punching the 28-year-old victim in the face, police said. He suffered minor injuries.
The suspect was last seen wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, dark sweatpants and white sneakers.
The NYPD could not say why the release of the video was delayed, but noted that it often takes time to secure surveillance footage.
