YORKVILLE — A 11-story luxury apartment building featuring a gym and a kids playroom is slated to rise on East 90th Street across from where the elite Spence School is planning to build an athletic center, according to documents filed with the city Tuesday.

Plans for the site at 427 E. 90th St., between First and York avenues, call for a 115-foot building with 21 units, Department of Buildings records show.

Plans to demolish the site's existing five-story building, which was constructed in 1925 and was most recently owned by a limousine company, have been filed but not yet approved, according to the DOB.

Three apartments will be spread across the second, third and fourth floors, while just two units will cover the fifth through eighth floors. There will be one apartment on each of the ninth, 10th and 11th floors, the plans show. The first floor includes one units, as well as the gym and play room.

Issac & Stern Architects will design the project.

The building will be constructed directly across from the Spence School's new eight-story athletic center, which recently received approval from Community Board 8.

The owner, 427 E. 90th Owner LLC., bought the property from Farrell Limousine Service Corp. in 2016 for $17.1 million, according to the Department of Finance records.

Representatives from 427 E. 90th Owner LLC. did not immediately return a request for comment Wednesday.
