CHELSEA — Merchants NY, the longtime Seventh Avenue restaurant that shuttered earlier this year, will reopen a few blocks away, its owner said.

The eatery, which closed its doors at 112 Seventh Ave. near West 17th Street, at the end of February, will move into the space formerly occupied by Eolo at 190 Seventh Ave., near West 21st Street, owner Abraham Merchant told Community Board 4’s Business Licenses and Permits committee.

The eatery left its home of 25 years amid a real estate company’s plans to redevelop the building.

The new restaurant will have the “same operation, same ownership, same everything,” attorney Joseph Levey told the committee.

“They felt very, very strongly about the roots they had… in the community, and the fact that this had become a community staple,” Levey noted.

Merchant and Levey did not respond to an inquiry about the eatery’s estimated opening date.
