Motorcyclist Dies After He Falls Off Bike, Gets Struck by Box Truck: NYPD

THE BRONX — A 55-Year-Old Long Island man was killed Monday morning after he was ejected from his motorcycle on the Bruckner Expressway and then hit by a box truck, according to the NYPD.

Nathan Oates was driving north on the expressway near Leggett Avenue at about 8:55 a.m. when he lost control of his 2006 Yamaha bike and then was then struck by a 47-year-old man who was also driving his truck north in the center lane, police said.

The motorcyclist, who lived in Hempstead, was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The box truck driver remained at the scene and was not initially charged or given a summons.

The NYPD Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad was investigating.
