BUSHWICK — A trio of gun-toting trio robbers yanked a rider off of an L train by his backpack before snatching his cellphone, police said.

The 24-year-old victim was riding the Manhattan-bound L train when three men got on at the Sutter Avenue stop and approached him, with one of the suspects lifting up his shirt to show a gun in his waistband, police said.

When the train pulled into the Bushwick-Aberdeen stop at 3:40 p.m. on June 4, the trio got off the train and pulled the straphanger with them by his backpack, police said.

They then grabbed his cellphone from his pocket and fled the station, police said.

The victim wasn't injured in the incident.

The suspects were all thought to be between 17 and 20 years old. One was described as standing about 5-foot-9, weighing 160 pounds, ad last seen wearing a black baseball cap and a black shirt. The second was described as standing about 5-foot-8 and last seen wearing a black jacket. The third was described as standing about 5-foot-7, weighing 140 pounds, and last seen wearing a blue jacket.

A police spokesman said they released surveillance images of the suspects nearly a month after the incident because of the time it takes to conduct an investigation and obtain video from the MTA.

Anyone with information can call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
