LOWER EAST SIDE — Police are looking for a long-haired man they say pummeled a 65-year-old commuter into unconsciousness on a subway platform at the Delancey Street station one week ago.

The assailant approached the man on the Queens-bound J train platform June 18 around 4:50 p.m. and punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground, police said.

The suspect continued to punch and kick the victim while he lay on the ground, causing him to lose consciousness, police said.

Emergency responders took the victim to a hospital in stable condition, according to authorities.

Police have released surveillance photos of the suspect, described as a man around 20-years-old and standing at 5-foot-7-inches tall with long hair.

Police did not immediately say why information on the attack was being released a week after the crime took place.
