BROOKLYN— Break out your sun hats and bro-rompers — summer is here and restaurant patios are open.
Drinks on the patio are a welcome relief to a long work week, and you don’t have to venture to Manhattan to get it. Here are a few Bushwick locations with great outdoor spaces to relax with a mimosa or Frosé.
970 Flushing Ave., Near Morgan L & Central M
Brunch: Saturday & Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Specials: $6 Select Cocktails, $12 Frosé, Punch Bowls
You can’t miss Forrest Point’s patio area on the industrial stretch of Flushing Avenue. Trees and hanging plants create a lush green space in an area filled with construction sites and factories. The front room of the restaurant also doubles as a porch during the summer.
The Mediterranean breakfast is a great lighter option and gives you plenty of room for a $6 mimosa or bellini. If you’re a fan of eggs benedict you can choose between the salmon with rye toast or steak with sourdough for protein, both are $14 a piece.
Forrest Point also has a fine selection of craft draft beers starting at $6 with appearances from local breweries KCBC and Six Point. While some of the more creative cocktails aren’t included in the brunch special, the Sawed-Off Shotgun and Get Schwifty are worth trying.
19 Wyckoff Ave., Near: Jefferson L & Dekalb L
Brunch: Saturday & Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Specials: $30 Make Your Own Mimosa Carafe, $12 Bloody Marys
Snap some artsy photos around the Bushwick Collective and then head over to Sea Wolf for surf and turf style brunch. The sidewalk seating gives you a great view of the street art and murals along Troutman Street
The restaurant offers lighter brunch staples like eggs benedict and avocado toast, and has a few heavier dishes, like chicken and waffles, for the friend who’s always hungry. If you’re more into the surf side of the menu, Sea Wolf boasts a raw bar with $2.50 oysters and cooked shrimp, lobster, and clam dishes.
If you’re can’t make it to brunch, Sea Wolf offers happy hour deals like $1 oysters and wings, and $5 draft beers Monday through Friday starting at 4:00 p.m.
1037 Flushing Ave., Near: Morgan L & Jefferson L
Specials: $1 off wells drinks and draft beers, $10 Burger set
The inside of this bar is, as its name would suggest, narrow. But the art deco style makes you feel as if you’re in a high-class, 1920’s speakeasy with the added bonus of an open back patio.
House cocktails range in taste from smoky mezcal mixes like the Pilar, to sweet, tangy drinks like the Water Lily and are between $10.00 to $12.00. If you’re feeling adventurous try a Derringer Cocktail for a savory bourbon based drink.
The Narrows also offers frozen Negroni and Que Boñita, a blanco tequila based drink, for $12.00 a piece.
While there's no brunch specials on the weekend, the food is fairly priced and simple. If you get hungry while visiting on a weekday try the burger set — your choice between a beef patty melt or veggie burger, fries or salad and a bottle of Budweiser.
