HALLETS POINT — A handful of affordable apartments are up for grabs in a new residential building near the Astoria waterfront, with rents for a one-bedroom going for $889 a month.

The lottery opened last week for six affordable units inside a 5-story building at 26-27 2nd Street, between 26th and 27th avenues, according to the NYC Housing Connect website.

The apartments include four one-bedroom homes that will rent for $889 a month, available to single applicants who earn between $30,480 and $40,080 a year, or a two-person household that makes $30,480 to $45,840 annually.

There are also two 2-bedroom units available for $1,001 a month for two people making between $34,320 and $45,840 a year, three people earning $34,320 to $51,540 a year or four-person households that make between $34,320 and $57,240, according to the income requirements.

The building offers a parking garage and a laundry room on the first floor. It's located on the Hallets Point peninsula, just blocks from the new Astoria ferry landing, where boats will start running in August.

The property is owned by Ari Properties LLC, and the developer is receiving a tax exemption in exchange for providing the affordable units as part of the 421-a program.

Applicants who live in Queens Community Board 1 will get a preference for half of the affordable units. The deadline to apply is June 26.
