Man Stabs Pregnant Woman Because Her Leg Touched His on 2 Train: Sources

THE BRONX — A pregnant woman and her friend suffered life-threatening injuries when a man stabbed them because the expecting mother's leg touched his on a 2 train, sources said.

The pregnant woman, 24, was sitting on the lap of her friend, 21, when her leg bumped Derrick Wilson, 50, and sent him into a rage about 6:41 p.m., sources said.

Wilson pulled a blade and stabbed the 24-year-old, who's about 4 months pregnant, in the neck and the 21-year-old in the left bicep, an NYPD spokesman said.

The two women were critically injured, but listed in stable condition at Lincoln Hospital, police said.

"She's not likely to die. From what I understand, the baby's fine," said NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce.

Wilson, who's been arrested 17 times since 1989, fled the train at the aboveground Prospect Avenue station and managed to fling his knife onto a nearby roof before good Samaritans restrained him until police arrived, sources said. Investigators later recovered the knife.

He was charged with attempted murder, assault and menacing, police said. He hadn't been arraigned as of Friday morning, officials said.

Wilson's prior arrests "some of which from assault, some are from some other issues as well," Boyce added.

Wilson, of Allerton, was most recently arrested on May 21 in The Bronx, but an NYPD spokesman didn't know what for.
