LOWER EAST SIDE — A man sitting on the street Friday afternoon was slashed in the face by an unknown passerby in broad daylight, police said.

The 34-year-old victim was sitting near the corner of Norfolk and Rivington Streets on May 19 around 3:30 p.m. when a man walked by and hit and slashed him on the left side of his chin, leaving him bleeding from a two-inch gash in his face, according to authorities.

The victim did not get a good look at his attacker, but told police he was wearing a red shirt, according to a police report. He does not plan to press charges, police said.
