MIDTOWN — The city could see 24 straight hours of rain beginning Friday night as a low-pressure system develops off the coast, forecasters said.

The wet weather will begin around 11 p.m. Friday and linger through the night, then increase in intensity late Saturday morning, the National Weather Service said.

The boroughs could be soaked by up to 2 inches of rain by nightfall, forecasters said.

Temperatures are expected to reach just 51 degrees for the day, the NWS said.

The city could also get wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour, according to the Department of Buildings, and all constructions sites were advised to secure their equipment and lower their cranes.

The rain is expected to resume Sunday, with showers possible throughout the morning into the afternoon, forecasters said.

The sun should finally come back Monday as temperatures reach 66 degrees for the day.
