Thieves Drag Man to Ground While Trying to Strip Off His Backpack [VIDEO]

THE BRONX — Two would-be thieves dragged a man to the ground while trying to rob him over the weekend of his backpack before being chased off by the victim's coworkers, video shows.

The thieves, who can be seen in dramatic video released by police Tuesday, walked up behind the 34-year-old man outside 2558 Grand Concourse and abruptly dragged him to the ground about 6:16 p.m., according to NYPD officials.

But once they stripped the bag away did, the victim's coworkers rushed to his aid scared them off, prompting them to drop it as they ran, police said.

One suspect fled north on Grand Concourse while the other ran south, police said. Neither had been arrested as of Tuesday morning, police said.

One suspect wore a dark hoodie, blue jeans and gray sneakers, police said.

The other wore a black jacket, beige pants with white sneakers, police said.
