LOWER MANHATTAN —This is going to make the 646 area code look old-school.
A new area code, 332, has been added to the list of Manhattan-based phone numbers, after 212, 917, and 646 got close to filling up, Verizon announced Tuesday.
The change will mean that new numbers will be assigned the new area code. It won't affect the price of calls and won't require any special actions — although you will have to dial the area code for calls to be placed, officials said.
