MANHATTAN — A woman lost $7,000 when she accidentally left her wallet on a bench in the City Hall station — and investigators want to question a man who was seen running from the scene Monday, NYPD officials said.

The 49-year-old woman left her cash-filled wallet on the bench about 1:30 p.m. before boarding a southbound 4 train, police said.

She managed to return to the station when she realized her wallet was missing and found a man sitting there with it in his hands, police said.

She tried to confront him, but he fled, dropping the now empty wallet along the way, police said.

The man, who's not described as a suspect, is in his late 20s, about 6 feet tall and 155 pounds, police said.

He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, black hoodie, a green jacket with orange lining and blue jeans, police said.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
