MIDTOWN — Service on the 4, 5, and 6 trains was disrupted during the Monday evening commute after a person hit the third rail at the Lexington Avenue-59th Street subway station, according to police.
The NYPD said the person was pronounced dead at the station. It was not immediately clear how the person ended up on the tracks.
The MTA referred calls to the NYPD.
As of 6:27 p.m., northbound 4 and 5 trains were running local from Grand Central-42nd Street to 125th Street, while some northbound 5 trains were running on the 2 line from Nevins Street to 149th Street-Grand Concourse, according to the MTA's website.
Passengers could expect delays on the 4, 5 and 6, the agency said.
