Cat Burglar Scales Fire Escape in Broad Daylight to Steal Jewelry: NYPD

THE BRONX — A cat burglar scaled a fire escape in the front of a building in broad daylight to break into a Fordham apartment to steal $1,850 in jewelry, NYPD officials said.

The suspect, who can be seen in video police released Friday, climbed the rungs of the fire escape of a building near Morris Avenue and East 190th Street about 11:30 a.m. March 21, police said.

He climbed through a living room window and stole the valuables before fleeing the scene, police said. He hadn't been arrested as of Friday morning, police said.

Video shows the suspect wearing a blue jacket with blue cap and blue jeans walking down the street carrying a striped bag.
