QUEENS — A 75-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries Tuesday night when she was struck by a van driver who was then arrested, police said.

The woman, whose name wasn't immediately released, was crossing the street near 99th Street and 63rd Avenue when Rene Hernandez, 43, turned his van and hit her about 10 p.m., NYPD officials said.

The woman was treated at Elmhurst Hospital, where she's listed in critical condition, police said Wednesday morning.

Hernandez, who was driving a 2001 Dodge Ram van, was arrested for driving with a suspended license and failing to yield to a pedestrian, police said.

He's been arrested five times before, but records for those arrests are sealed, an NYPD spokesman said.
