QUEENS — An off-duty FDNY EMT was arrested after he assaulted his girlfriend in Long Island City Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Peter Matura, 31, was in a home on 50th Avenue at about 1:30 p.m. when he attacked his girlfriend, stabbing her in the abdomen and then stealing her phone, according to an NYPD spokesman.

He was charged with assault, grand larceny, criminal mischief, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment.

His girlfriend was in stable condition after the attack, the spokesman added.

It was not immediately clear how long he had been with the FDNY. He was suspended for 30 days without pay, the maximum suspension, according to FDNY officials.
