MANHATTAN CRIMINAL COURT — The man who tossed a fake bomb into an NYPD van in Times Square was sentenced to six months in jail and five years probation on Monday, authorities said.

Hector Meneses, 52, pleaded guilty on Feb. 27 to falsely reporting an incident in the first degree, after a judge found the proceedings could move forward at the beginning of January, the Manhattan District Attorney’s office said.

A judge had previously ordered Meneses to undergo a psychiatric exam, and in December his attorney said doctors were divided as to whether he was fit to stand trial.

Meneses was involved in a six-hour standoff with police at Columbus Circle in July, after throwing a blinking device that resembled a bomb into an NYPD van parked in Times Square.

The device was later determined to be a hoax made of items including a candle, a flashing LED light and an electrical component, officials said.

Meneses is currently being held at the Robert N. Davoren Center on Rikers Island, city Department of Correction records show. It wasn't clear whether he would be released for time already served.

His attorney of record did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday.
