DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — Only a month after opening, the city's newest Target store is already a target for thieves.

Officers arrested Efrain Ramirez, 55, for trying to steal three laptops and a pack of candy from the chain store in the new City Point development at 445 Albee Square West at 9:46 a.m. on Feb. 19, police said.

Police were able to recover the merchandise, worth more than $1,000 total, though it wasn’t clear what type of laptops or candy Ramirez tried to steal.

A manager at Target declined to comment on the robbery Wednesday.

Ramirez was charged with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny.

His attorney did not immediately return a request for comment.
