Teen Stabbed Near Prospect Park Zoo, Police Say

CROWN HEIGHTS — An 18-year-old was hospitalized Monday night after he was stabbed in the stomach during a nighttime walk in Prospect Park with friends, police said.

The teen had been hanging out near the Prospect Park Zoo with five friends around 9:45 p.m. when two unknown men passed by and started arguing with the group. The zoo closes at 4:30 p.m. daily.

The disagreement turned physical, police said, and one of the strangers stabbed the 18-year-old in the abdomen with an unknown object during the scuffle.

The two men fled on foot. The victim was taken by ambulance to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in serious but stable condition, police said.

No suspects had been identified in the assault and no arrests had been made as of Wednesday morning, police said.
