CHINATOWN — Xi'an Famous Foods has opened a second Bayard Street eatery just steps away from its flagship Chinatown location to better handle the crowds of eaters that flock to the popular noodle joint.

The new spot, which opened Feb. 1 at 45 Bayard St., was created to handle the overflow from the other Chinatown outpost that sits about a block away at 67 Bayard St.

"Over the years, the store has gotten busier and it came to a point where that location is just too small to operate," reads a description of the new location on the restaurant's website.

"So, on February 1, 2017, we opened this new location to better serve our customers in Chinatown, whether they are locals or they are tourists looking to take in all that Chinatown has to offer!"

The new location holds nearly double the noodle enthusiasts at 60 seats, while the original spot seats 35.

The "original" Chinatown location at 67 Bayard St. was actually the neighborhood's second spot, according to the website — the true original was located a few blocks away under the Manhattan Bridge, and was moved to accommodate larger crowds in 2011.

The new location marks the popular noodle shop's 13th outpost in New York City — it has 10 locations in Manhattan alone including offshoot Biang! in the East Village, two in Queens, and opened its first Brooklyn location in Greenpoint in 2014.

The rapidly expanding chain is currently eyeing new spots in Manhattan as well as in Boston and Washington D.C., CEO Jason Wang told Eater.
